When I sat down to write my New Year’s Resolutions for 2020 I decided NOT to waste my time this year & I wanted to try new. I took a page out of Rachel Hollis book and jumped into making my own “Start Today Journal” and setting my intentions for 2020.
I should preface this and say I don’t know the first thing about starting a journal and I am not super into the whole “woo woo” / manifestation thing, I feel like there is some truth to it but the analytical side of me is in denial and I can’t put my trust in it 100%. . . yet at least but I am trying.

Today I’m going to go over what I’m doing to set myself up for success and keep me accountable to reach all my goals in 2020.
Start today journal
Im going to be taking some inspiration from the“Start Today Journal” by Rachel Hollis + doing a few other things.
“The Start Today Journal is the best tool to help you achieve your goals. For ninety days you will write down five things you’re grateful for, ten dreams you’re going to make happen, and the one goal you’re going to achieve first. We believe that with this daily practice you will be able to find success both personally and professionally.” – Rachel Hollis
I’ve decided to jump all in on this (except I didn’t buy the actual journal, im using my own) and im changing things up a bit.
Ill start my daily journal with 5 things I am grateful for& these 5 things can even be little things.
For example today one of the things I wrote down was “I am thankful for mascara” because after all it’s the little things that keep us going. & mascara just gives me an extra boost of confidence for some reason.
Then its time to get to the good stuff.
I took the time to “daydream” I allowed myself to dream BIG and pictured myself 5 years from now.
The plan
I wrote down EVERYTHING I envisioned, & started o ask myself a few questions:
Who am I? What do I do on my free time? What do I look like? What do I do for work? Do I have more kids? What does my day to day life look like? Where do I life? What do I dislike? Etc.
I went into specific detail, this took some time because I wrote down exactly what I did day to day & like I said I allowed myself to dream BIG, bigger than I ever have before. I basically wrote down what my “perfect” dream life looked like.
I decided to envision myself 5 years from now because 10 just seemed a bit unrealistic (to me) keep in mind I am new to this whole manifestation life & I need to take baby steps.
AFTER I envision my future self and ideal best life I focused on the 10 most important big dreams and wrote them down as if they already happened.
For Example: Instead if saying “I want to be my won boss” I’m writing down “I am a full-time business owner” because that’s is how I’m living my best life in the future.

This is where these intentions im setting differ from resolutions. A resolution is more of an idea, it focuses on the outcome but has no real plan & is normally something you’re cutting out or adding into your life. . .
An intention makes you dig deep and create a realistic plan, it gets the wheels turning to get you to where you want to be.
So by visualizing myself in 5-10 years from now I am able to set those BIG goals but then go back and ask myself what exactly do I have to do to get there.
& by writing these 10 big goals down daily its always in the back of my mind, pushing me to do the daily tasks I need to do to get me to my dream life that I envisioned for myself.
100 days to brave
I am also committing to finishing “100 days to Brave” by Annie F. Downs, this is more so just to get me start getting things down on paper and more comfortable journaling. Its also a book ive had “collecting dust” for awhile now.
How are you setting yourself up for success in 2020?
